Sony seems to have been rejuvenated after their split from the Sony Ericsson partnership, and during the recently concluded Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, them introduce a trio of new Xperia smartphones that run off the Android operating system. Having said that, there is yet another smartphone available for grabs this time around in the form of the Sony Xperia sola.

It will be the latest addition to Sony’s portfolio of Android powered Xperia smartphones, where it comes complete with Sony technology, in addition to offering premium entertainment as well as an innovative floating touch navigation. Even better is the fact that the Xperia sola will kYeep up with the times, since it is also NFC enabled. The Xperia sola will feature Xperia SmartTags support, letting you alter your smartphone’s settings as well as applications to fit your lifestyle in a jiffy without having to go through button presses.

Just how does Sony’s unique floating touch system work? For starters, your finger can just hover above the display, allowing it to function like a moving cursor without having to actually touch the display itself. Once it finds the desired link, it can be highlighted using a simple tap, where the page will load afterwards. This will definitely pave the way for new user functionality as well as applications via software updates and engagement with developers.

Each purchase of the Xperia sola will come with a couple of NFC Xperia SmartTags right in the box as standard, in order to simplify consumers’ everyday smartphone experiences. All you need to do is touch an NFC Android smartphone on a SmartTag, and a pre-configured profile in the smartphone will launch. The two SmartTags that come with the Xperia sola can be personalized with up to 10 commands.

Other hardware specifications include a 3.7″ Reality Display powered by Mobile BRAVIA Engine, xLOUD and 3D surround sound audio technology, a 1GHz dual-core processor, a fast capture camera, and access to Sony Entertainment Network. I am rather surprised to hear that the Xperia sola will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, although it is comforting to hear that an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade is coming your way when summer 2012 rolls around.

My kolej(ungku omar) has organised an activities " Program Sehari Menjadi Mahasiswa" on last Sunday. This activities was joined by form 6 student which came from SMK Dato Syed Ahmad,Kuala Nerang, Alor Setar. They will have a trip to UKM for 3 days 2 nights and stay in our kolej. So i have a adik angkat which will stay in my room for this few days. When we first meet, we have talk about many things for example family background, interest, academic and many mores. I also share with her about my university life in UKM. I found out that there is some difference in the slang of speaking mandarin in our state. The day before she went back, she has give me and my roommate present for memorable. Although we just meet for a short time but i am happy to recognise her. Hope to see her again!

Robot artist 'draws' crowds at world's top tech fair

A robot caricaturist that can draw an accurate likeness of its subject in just three minutes was wowing the crowds at the world's biggest IT fair, but not every customer was satisfied.

The robot, designed by Germany's Fraunhofer Institute, takes a black-and-white picture of the subject, its computer brain then calculates the contrasts and contours of the face and it sketches what it "sees."

But, in contrast to a human artist, this robot is scrupulously honest, which can leave some punters feeling they have been poorly treated.

"Some people go away disappointed," admitted Karin Stein, a researcher on the project.

"For example, if you have very small lips, the computer registers very small lips. There is hardly any contrast or contour, so what you end up with is a short, straight line. People aren't happy," she added.

"The robot could do the portrait in three minutes flat, but we wanted to recreate the experience in Montmartre," she explained, with most portraits taking around 10 minutes.

"In fact, the younger you are, the quicker it is, because it takes more time for the computer to recognise and draw wrinkles."

Like most gadgets at this year's CeBIT, the world's biggest high-tech fair in the northern German city of Hanover, what may appear frivolous has a higher purpose.

In fact, the robot is just showing off its skills. Its day job is to work on measuring how light reflects off various surfaces.

This is crucial for research into reflective clothing for road workers or street signs, for example, when it is preferable to have as much light beamed back as strongly as possible, or camouflage when the opposite is needed.

But the street artists of the world can rest easy for the moment, as they still have the advantage of price.

Whereas a caricature might set you back US$20 or so, this robot is worth at least 40,000 euros (RM158,800).

movie " the wedding diary"

         I have watched this movie " the wedding diary" during semester break holiday. The movie is acted by Aniu, Elanne Kwong, Kara Hui, Marcus Chin, Shaun Chen, Chris Tong. This movie is about disparities between the bride and groom families, from wealth levels to differences between Singaporeans and Malaysians with its divergent Hokkien and Cantonese cultures. The groom,Daniel agree to hold on an extravagant dinner banquet in Singapore although his financial status do not allow. On the wedding day, Daniel plan to use the angpow money given by guests to cover the bill for dinner. From this movie i have few moral values that is the importance of harmonies and tolerance in order to build a happy family. Besides, luxuries and dignity should put aside when organizing wedding ceremony as happiness in a marriage is more important.
